Architecture

Architecture brings together function and form to create beauty in the buildings and other structures which surround us. Everything from skyscrapers to bridges and our homes all benefit from the eye of a skilled architect. Our desire for beauty as well as functionality sets us apart from other animals.

As an architectural student, you will spend 3 years studying for your licensing examination after having obtained either a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Apart from developing your artistic skill, you will learn about design, construction and the use of computer-aided packages.

Once qualified as an architect, you could follow a career in building design, interior design, urban planning, property management or landscaping, for example. Since architecture is such a wide field, there is always the possibility of diversifying into fields like set design for films and TV companies. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the future is bright for architects with demand rising more rapidly than for many other disciplines.
