Degree
Bachelor's

A Bachelor's degree is what most people mean when they say 'degree'. Like the Associate's degree, it is an undergraduate course but, unlike the Associate's, the Bachelor's degree normally lasts for four years and that is in full-time study.

Also like the Associate's award, it is split into two - these being the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science courses.

Many professions specify a Bachelor's degree as a minimum qualification because it means that those who pass it with have demonstrated a high level of commitment and studied their subject in detail - something which the shorter Associate's degree cannot really offer. Accordingly salaries are significantly higher for those with a Bachelor's degree.

When enrolling on a Bachelor's course, students are required to nominate a second 'minor' subject which they will study alongside. Normally this secondary subject will be either directly or tangentially related to the main subject or major. Some students may even elect to 'double major' which means, if they pass both, that they get two Bachelor's degrees.
