Degree
Master's

Many of the top-ranked and salaried positions require a tangible demonstration of academic prowess and commitment over and above the four years of a Bachelor's. A Master's, with its 2 additional years of study, represents just that.

While a Master's is usually taken as a separate entity - i.e. you finish the Bachelor's course and then tackle a Master's - some courses combine the two although, at between 5 and 7 years, this is not a more concise option. Acceptance on a Master's course is not a foregone conclusion - applicants must usually possess not just a relevant Bachelor's degree but also high grade point and graduate test scores.

The course itself is usually very focussed with the intention that students take a specific area of their chosen subject and work on that intensively. In many cases the lessons are ancillary to the final written thesis which each student must submit.

Apart from opening career doors in subjects like education, engineering and medicine, for example, a Master’s Degree also offers a significantly higher salary expectation to those who possess one.
