Criminal Justice degrees are attractive to students who have a clear sense of what is right and wrong and a healthy respect for the law and its consequences.  Careers in the field can range from law enforcement to police administration to becoming a lawyer, judge or teacher.

Many jobs are available to those who have as little as an associate's degree, and can encompass anything from fingerprint analysis to crime scene investigation to being a legal investigator.  Additionally, many graduates find work as police officers as well as juvenile case workers and probation officers.  The versatility of this degree makes it attractive for students who are not sure exactly where their ultimate career interests lay.

Some of the basic courses in this track include law and government, humanities and the social sciences, with some courses in psychology as well as sociology. Specific requirements will be determined by the actual track the student wishes to pursue, and there are limitless options available to help prepare students for an exciting career in a growing field.

A degree in criminal justice is also a good foundation for future prosecutors and defense attorneys to have in addition to forensic pathologists, researchers and teachers.  As a basis for advanced studies, most criminal justice programs offer a broad based curriculum that will help students understand the fundamentals while discovering what area is most attractive for them to pursue professionally.

The job outlook for careers in the criminal justice field is consistently well above average for nearly all concentrations.  Estimates suggest that as long as there is crime and enforcement, there will always be exciting and interesting career choices available, and there are numerous career building options to choose from.
